Boeing 737-800 is a short-range and narrow-body passenger aircraft with twin-engine turbofans designed and produced by Boeing, belonging to Boeing 737NG series. It is an extended fuselage of Boeing 737-700 to replace Boeing 737-400 and fill the gap left by MD-80 and MD-90 after retirement. The dashboard of Boeing 737-800 cockpit adopts a new type of large display screen, and winglet 1 can be optionally added to the wing. On September 5, 1994, the Boeing 737-800 project was officially launched and made its first flight on July 31, 1997. On March 13, 1998, type certificate of the FAA was awarded; On April 9, type certificate of the European Union Aviation Administration was awarded; On April 22nd, the first 737-800 was delivered to the customer. On December 29, 2024, a Boeing 737 passenger plane of Jeju Air in South Korea landed off the runway at Wu 'an Airport and exploded. On December 30th, another Boeing passenger plane of the same model of Jeju Air in South Korea turned back shortly after take-off due to abnormal landing gear failure, and finally landed successfully.
